The Committees
WSLH is run by the members, through a system of committees. More important
policy decisions must be made at our Annual General Meeting or at special
convened General Meetings.
Equal Opportunities
Our Equal Opportunities committee meets monthly to monitor the implementation
of our E.Ops policy as set out in our rule book and voted on by the AGM
and the Management Committee. This is one of the most vibrant and influential
aspects of our work at WSLH.
Development & Public Relations
The Development & PR committee is our "think-tank," and is concerned
with how we go about improving the working practice of the organisation,
such as finding new ways of acquiring property providers, creating links
with other organisations, funding various projects, and the overall direction
taken by WSLH.
Members Sub-Committee
The monthly MSC has executive power to settle grievances, approve transfers,
undertake disciplinary procedures and various other issues that can arise.
It is fully-confidential, due to the often sensitive nature of it's work.
Management Committee
The Management Committee meets monthly. It's function is take care of the
day to day running of the organisation and to make policy decisions. Representatives
from all the other committees, as well as the Director, report to this
committee.
Finance & General Purposes
The F & GAP committee oversees the financial status of the organisation,
and has responsibility for preparing audited accounts and financial reports
for the Management Committee and the annual report.
News & IT Group
This is the newest working group at WSLH, and was set up when we bought
an PowerPC for the licensees. It publishes the monthly newsletter, "The
Tenants Extra" the annual report and any other promotional documents. It
also organises computer training sessions and IT resources, such as WWW
access, writing CVs, and administering this site. |
